Trend Spotting;What I noticed

Fashion changes daily and sometimes it decides to fade out and come back. I am one that always tries to buy fashion magazines every month to catch up on whats going on, what's hot, what's not, what's new, etc. Top 5 trends I have been noticing are studs, flannels, "street" wear, florals and denim jackets/vests/shirts. These are very few things that are "in" right now and that I know many people have in their wardrobe. I also asked many of my friends what pieces are their favorites in their wardrobes. Many of them said jean jackets & non-fitted "blousy" shirts. It's funny to look into a friends closet and see what they have compared to yours. It's fun to look and think hmm.. what does she have that I want, or what do I have that can go with this?

BUT ANYWAYS, Back to the styles I've been noticing, this studded kinda rockstar trend has been going on for quite a while now & continues to spread to many different pieces of clothing & accessories. You name it, you can find it with studs on it. Shoes, sunglasses, shirts, hats, bracelets, belts, etc. What do you think is appropriate with studding and what isn't? What would you wear with studs and what do you think just looks ridiculous. This studded trend does add edge to a look and adds style to any outfit, but too much can look too crazy. Celebs rocking this studded trend (Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry,Blake Lively)

"Street" clothing is also coming back and the mix of street clothing and studs seem to be a popular match. Graphic tees, combat boots, ripped jeans, lot's of black, etc. Most people say street fashion is only for our youth culture and YES the younger generation might wear it "better." BUT many people would be surprised walking in the streets of NYC and to see how many people have a "street" look. A street look also doesn't necessarily have to be what I listed above, there is a range of style that can go into a "street outfit." You can mix it up in so many ways and it can never be boring.

Okay, last trend I want to discuss is flannel... What is going on with that? The 90's flannel is coming back and I don't know how I feel about that. In magazines I have been seeing quite a few celebs rocking this flannel look. Celebs like Mary-Kate Olsen,Lauren Conrad,Katie Holmes and I am thinking... this is a fashion flashback that just needs to go back! Flannel maybe is meant to be worn at home behind closed doors, to lay around and be comfy in, but being in public wearing 90's flannel.. I don't think I'm jumping on that ban wagon anytime soon. But Hey, fashion is meant to come back and be different right?

How do you know what pieces you can mix and match? When do you know if it really looks good? That's what I think is the best part of fashion, mixing pieces together from your point of view and looking at it the way you want too. That's the most interesting part of fashion, it's like art, people are creative and see things differently, everyone has different opinions. Fashion is so versatile, you can be so expressive and it doesn't matter how it looks to others, if you like how it looks & that's you style, the BE YOU! Hey, you never know, people wear outragous outfits all the time, they get attention don't they, and then eventually a part of that outfit becomes a trend... Interesting how something that some people think looks ridiculous, other people love & its a trend in a blink of an eye.

Remember fashion is meant to be unique and fun. BE YOU, BE DIFFERENT:)
