More Accessories;Less Pink

Happy Easter Everyone,

This Easter/Spring season we are used to seeing a lot of pink. Well, not this year. This Spring we will be seeing more emerald greens and many shades of blue. Pantone has made it clear that green is our color of the year. Based on that, I think I may be needing to shop for some green pieces for my wardrobe.

Also this season, ACCESSORIES ACCESSORIES ACCESSORIES! Belts, over-sized clutches, over-sized bags, bracelets, flowers, sunglasses and metallic accents are going to be the go-to accessories you will want in your closet. Mix it up, try accessories you never thought you would wear before and accessories that have lots of color to work with. Also when buying accessories or clothing, think about what it would go with that you already own, ask yourself "how many times can I wear this?" Accessories are versatile and are made to change a look, be different, have your own style, and try new things this Spring!
Accessories Are a Must!

Again Happy Easter Everyone! Let's all enjoy the last day of the weekend!

It's Makeup Monday

Happy Makeup Monday! I have some "blooming beauties" ready for Spring! There are so many sweet shades that are popping up this spring & are ready to be worn. All these colors are looking hotter than ever and are chic on your lids, lips, and fingertips. Like I have said in previous posts I love fancy makeup and neutral makeup as well, but either direction I want to take, I like having tips or steps to follow. I am not the most perfect makeup applier, and this is why I am always looking up pictures and videos to become better with it. SO since I want to learn how to put makeup on better & wear it correctly (without looking like a clown), I thought HEY maybe I would share all of this with you guys. I'm sure all of  you would appreciate tips and directions just as much as I do. I understand not all girls wear makeup, but experimenting is always fun and while your trying new looks, you may be surprised at something new you may come to like. Always be open to something new and giving yourself new options in your style, if you never try you'll never know.

The 5 major makeup essentials you need this Spring are

1)Eye Pencil
2)Eye Shadow
3)Lip Tints
4)Mascara
5)Blush/and or Bronzer (I personally use both)

My everyday makeup I  use blush, bronzer, mascara, and lip gloss.  The other ones listed will be something new for me to try since I don't normally use them on a daily basis. (eye liner or eye shadow and some new shades of lip tints)

TIPS:

Darker skins are more fortunate with the array of pastel colors that they are able to use on their face. Black liner and mascara look best on women with darker skin, it will accentuate your eyes the best.

Olive skin tones, do something different and play with blues and greens. If you don't want to be too adventurous yet and want to be simpler at first while trying these new colors, stick with pinks and corals. Brown liner is best recommended for those with olive skin, brown or brown black mascara will look pretty either way. (whichever you prefer using)

With any skin tone though, before using eye shadows, make sure to use a primer if you can, the shadows will look better and last longer throughout your day.

Pastels this season are best used for romantic looks, but can also be used for a neutral look. Pastels are versatile, fun and pretty, so experiment and don't be afraid to try new hues of colors. Emphasize your eyes and brighten them up, add mascara to have a sexy lash. Use lip tints that you think make your lips look appealing and kissable for your man! I know ladies we are doing this to help ourselves, but HEY if we impress our man too, that just adds on to your confidence!

OH! Don't forget your nail polish. Top pretty polishes for this seasons.

1) Seafoam Green
2) Mint Green
3) Bubblegum Pink
4) Baby Blue
5)Pale Purple

Here are some looks I found that I liked/looks I put together, who thinks they can try them out & get them to look like this on them?

Converse Makes a Deal

Earlier this month, a famous artist in the music industry has partnered up with Converse. Rapper Wiz Khalifa confirmed his latest branding partnership.  On March 12th of this month the deal was all said and done, he was now a partner with Converse. This continuous rising star rapper has always been known to wear and support the style of converse. These seem to be one of his favorite shoes to wear, making sense why he would be excited to be having a partnership with them. Wiz tweeted the day of the deal saying "Im fuccin amped!", continuing his tweet about how "major" this deal is for him. This is another accomplishment he can add on his list. All of us can also assume since he's always wearing Chucks, he isn't just in it for the money. (Even though I'm sure making more money is a great bonus!)

Want a healthy snack? Here are 5 munchies you can try!

Hey Everyone, were half way through the week.. YAY! The weekend is almost here. Today is the first day of Spring, and I know most of us can't wait for our spring break vacations or summer. I am excited for summer & ready to get rid of this snow. This weather is getting really depressing, no one wants to go out and there's not much fun you can really do when it's cold crappy weather.

ANYWAYS, I know most of you who are going on vacation or want to have a fun summer, want to also look good for that. I for one don't normally work out, I am very lucky to have a fast metabolism and I don't gain weight very easily. I do though need to eat right and eat healthier. I would like to workout to tone my body and have some definition. (It sucks being a little twig sometimes) I know so many people say "I'm so jealous of how skinny you are." "OMG you're soooo skinny." I hear this ALL THE TIME. YES being skinny is great, BUT I am not going to be like this forever, so I mine as well start eating/trying new things, and finding some tricks that will work for me. Maybe some of these healthy and fun munchies will help you too.

Here are some creative and delicious looking snacks I found...

1) 7 Layer Dip- This recipe has tons of dairy and is a lighter recipe compared to most. This is lighter on your digestion.
Ingredients are...
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
2 avocados, mashed well
1 cup low-fat Greek yogurt
2/3 cup black beans
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese Sliced black olives and scallions to garnish

2) Frozen sliced bananas and peanut butter- SO simple, healthy, and tasty. These are only 160 calories per serving and offers 4.1 grams of fiber & 3.7 grams of protein
Ingredients are...
5 medium ripe bananas
1 tbsp. all natural creamy peanut butter
2 oz. nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt

3) Strawberry & Banana smoothie- An idea of something to replace your morning coffee, something different to jump start your day! Using a blender, combine the following ingredients...
1/2 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 small sliced banana
1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup skim milk

4) Turkey Tortilla Wrap- A super snack & can be made in less than 5 minutes!
Fill half of a whole-wheat tortilla with two slices of lean, deli-style turkey meat, sliced tomato and a small wedge of avocado.
Ingredients are...
whole wheat tortilla
two slices of deli-style turket meat
sliced tomato
lettuce
small wedge of avocado

5) Chocolate Covered Peanuts- These can satisfy your sweet tooth & you can grab this quick if your on the go. These do have chocolate, so they do have some fat, but they are also full of protein & other vitamins. Don't forget you want to eat healthy, but also treat yourself!

Style Sins; What Are Men Thinking?

Today before work, I decided to read some of my magazines to catch up on the latest fashion, gossip, beauty, etc. Looking through all the fashion finds and trends, I found something weird that a magazine also found disturbing. I understand men want to be fashionable and look good. All of us women out there appreciate this effort and encourage men to look their best. The things I don't encourage is for men to follow trends that make you look like a women or a "Real Housewife" as stated in Glamour magazine.

Guys that are deciding to wear leggings, or the new word for them "meggings" okay... Let's get this straight... LEGGINGS ARE NOT MADE FOR MEN. Leggings on men, who even thought that was a good idea? I'm sorry, but a trend such as printed leggings or any type of bottoms other than slacks or jeans should not be permitted on males. What woman wants to be wearing the same thing as their man, I'll tell you from my perspective... NO! Women have their styles and trends they follow for a reason as do men, please guys DO NOT try and rock our clothes, you will not be getting a girlfriend anytime soon if you choose to go down that road.

Also, another trend apparently men think looks good, lip stains/tints...Once again leave certain trends and styles TO WOMEN. There are just some things men can't wear and women can and same goes the other way around. I like stylish men and men with their own style, props to you! BUT PLEASE, ask yourself, before you walk out the door... would my girlfriend wear this? Does my sister own these? Come on fellas.. you want to dress to impress, not dress to depress.

Another Monday. "Makeup Monday"

Happy Makeup Monday Everyone,

I am going to try to post every Monday a post about makeup or makeup I like, something along those lines. I figured Mondays aren't that great for most of us and this is something fun to read and look forward too. I don't really use much makeup or do anything crazy, I do love mascara & lip gloss though, those are my two musts before walking out my door. I had a post previously that showed all my favorite products that I have or I have used, hopefully most of you have seen it, if not look it up on my page! I put a few different products on there and I can honestly say I used all of them or use them now and love those products.

For today's Makeup Monday, I thought I would just put up some pictures of some makeup trends I have been noticing and some makeup tips for all of you. With every season comes new trends, this Spring season, the makeup trends have to do with lips and lashes. This sounds good to me, because like I said earlier mascara and lip glosses/ lip stains are my go to makeup products before I walk out my door.

Today, I was searching for new ways to make lashes look fuller, but not fake looking, and for lips to look luscious in the perfect color. "Mark. Beauty," recommended these products. A tangerine lip gloss, that they believe goes with anything & these falsie lashes that make your lashes look fluffy and not too crazy.

Here are some colors I liked for this Spring season &  I hope to get my lashes to look this fabulous.
Happy Makeup Monday everyone, hope the start to your week is a good one!

Trend Spotting;What I noticed

Fashion changes daily and sometimes it decides to fade out and come back. I am one that always tries to buy fashion magazines every month to catch up on whats going on, what's hot, what's not, what's new, etc. Top 5 trends I have been noticing are studs, flannels, "street" wear, florals and denim jackets/vests/shirts. These are very few things that are "in" right now and that I know many people have in their wardrobe. I also asked many of my friends what pieces are their favorites in their wardrobes. Many of them said jean jackets & non-fitted "blousy" shirts. It's funny to look into a friends closet and see what they have compared to yours. It's fun to look and think hmm.. what does she have that I want, or what do I have that can go with this?

BUT ANYWAYS, Back to the styles I've been noticing, this studded kinda rockstar trend has been going on for quite a while now & continues to spread to many different pieces of clothing & accessories. You name it, you can find it with studs on it. Shoes, sunglasses, shirts, hats, bracelets, belts, etc. What do you think is appropriate with studding and what isn't? What would you wear with studs and what do you think just looks ridiculous. This studded trend does add edge to a look and adds style to any outfit, but too much can look too crazy. Celebs rocking this studded trend (Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry,Blake Lively)

"Street" clothing is also coming back and the mix of street clothing and studs seem to be a popular match. Graphic tees, combat boots, ripped jeans, lot's of black, etc. Most people say street fashion is only for our youth culture and YES the younger generation might wear it "better." BUT many people would be surprised walking in the streets of NYC and to see how many people have a "street" look. A street look also doesn't necessarily have to be what I listed above, there is a range of style that can go into a "street outfit." You can mix it up in so many ways and it can never be boring.

Okay, last trend I want to discuss is flannel... What is going on with that? The 90's flannel is coming back and I don't know how I feel about that. In magazines I have been seeing quite a few celebs rocking this flannel look. Celebs like Mary-Kate Olsen,Lauren Conrad,Katie Holmes and I am thinking... this is a fashion flashback that just needs to go back! Flannel maybe is meant to be worn at home behind closed doors, to lay around and be comfy in, but being in public wearing 90's flannel.. I don't think I'm jumping on that ban wagon anytime soon. But Hey, fashion is meant to come back and be different right?

How do you know what pieces you can mix and match? When do you know if it really looks good? That's what I think is the best part of fashion, mixing pieces together from your point of view and looking at it the way you want too. That's the most interesting part of fashion, it's like art, people are creative and see things differently, everyone has different opinions. Fashion is so versatile, you can be so expressive and it doesn't matter how it looks to others, if you like how it looks & that's you style, the BE YOU! Hey, you never know, people wear outragous outfits all the time, they get attention don't they, and then eventually a part of that outfit becomes a trend... Interesting how something that some people think looks ridiculous, other people love & its a trend in a blink of an eye.

"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." -Coco Chanel-

Remember fashion is meant to be unique and fun. BE YOU, BE DIFFERENT:)

"Spring has Sprung"

Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone had a fun filled & relaxing weekend, the sun and change in weather sure made my weekend a better one. It was so nice to have the sun out and not have to wear a winter jacket. Now that our season is changing and we are finally ending these cold winter months, we now get to switch out our boots & sweaters, for sandals and tank tops! This spring season we all know that florals are going to be in, but this Spring season, I feel the floral look is a little different than previous Spring seasons. This Spring the floral patterns are more feminine and less bold. The colors are more natural and light shades, and less daring. Bold florals still are sneaking into this season, so don't think things from last Spring can't be mixed and matched now. With these garden fresh florals, they need some delicate and feminine accessories to complete this look. Ballet flats, chunky necklaces, bold cuffs, and printed clutches, your outfit will make everyone turn heads. Remember floral can be a tricky pattern to work with, everyone can make it look different and wear it their own way. Mix and match florals or colors from the floral print. Have fun! Spring/Summer are the times to really bring your creativity out since you can be more worried about your outfits overall appearance instead of worrying about being warm.

Also don't forget about other pieces of your wardrobe like jean jackets, skirts, sunglasses, bangles, hats, etc. Add your style and one-of-a-kind touch to your outfit. Fashion is meant to express yourself, how you maybe feeling that day, showing a part of your personality, and who you are. Fashion is suppose to be fun and not always taken seriously, it's always nice to get noticed is an outfit you styled and took time to pick out. I know I change about 5 times in the morning before I step foot out my front door, and some people might think I'm crazy, but HEY that's me. I love fashion & always want to look my best when I can. Mixing and matching is always fun, do what you think looks best on you and shows your style. Hey you never know, something you wear might attract others peoples attention and you maybe that person to start the next trend!

Follow Your Dreams

Hey Everyone, how does it feel to lose an hour? I am not too happy about this hour time difference of losing sleep, but I will live with that for warmer weather! Anyways, today I had off of work, and I decided to go through some old folders, boxes, bags, etc and just throw out things I didn't want anymore. As I was looking through all of my old stuff, I found a bunch of things that brought back many different memories. Looking at pictures especially, I found pictures of me and my brother growing up. I found pictures of me and my parents at my last birthday I had with all of us together, and a lot of pictures of my cousin who passed away from brain cancer at the age of 5 in 2007. The box that I was going through to find these pictures was my box of high school projects and accomplishments. You know how your parents save everything, report cards, school pictures, high honoral certificates, projects, etc. My senior year everyone in order to graduate had to do what our school came up with to be "The Senior Project", each senior had to pick something that changed the community for the better, or influenced/helped us with our future. I wanted mine not only to help my future, but help others in something that I really cared about helping. I wanted to support families going through a family member being sick, and unfortunate families that have to deal with the passing of a family member that had brain cancer. I want to be able to find a cure and make a difference to these people.

I chose to produce and create my own fashion show to raise money for brain cancer research in memory of my cousin. I wanted to help other people, but also gain knowledge in something I want to do when I got older. It was such a good experience to have, and I'll tell you why. I learned how to work with people, plan with a budget, advertise, create an event within a certain time deadline, and have it be a success. Of course there were ups and downs, but it was such a great feeling when the show was all said and done. Knowing that I produced this fashion show from the models, to the venue, to the music, etc, it made me feel so accomplished and happy. I was able to do something beneficial to myself and others while doing something I loved. What I am trying to get at is I keep doing things to gain knowledge, go through experiences, and make mistakes, because these are the times that make you who you are. I have always wanted to be in fashion, I continue to study fashion, work in the fashion world, blog, and produce fashion shows. I know in the end all of my hard work will pay of and lead me to where I am meant to be in the fabulous fashion industry.

Fashion Friday

Today I was looking for what was the "latest" news in fashions, what's going on today, or right this very minute even. I found a few stories and read a lot of articles and decided to pick one of these I read from the Vogue website. They are right now preparing to launch this new label. This "little known brand" as Vogue stated in this article is called Cécile, it is a new British label. This new line was created by a small group of experts in the fashion industry. They mentioned no names in the article, apparently the designers of this new found label wants to remain anonymous. A tshirt was being worn by one of Vogue's cover girl models during fashion week in Paris. The creators of this collection are happy that models of today that are popular are wearing this new line and that people are slowly but surely recognizing the clothing.

It's interesting how the label of this new brand got originated. One of the experts in the group picked this name which was inspired by their grandmother. Cécile was "an eccentric artist, who was often seen dressed head-to-toe in animal prints." I have no problems with head-to-toe animal print, this woman sounded pretty fashionable to me. Besides this bit of inspiration, this group of experts wanted to bring something different to the market. They felt right now something new needed to be brought into the industry and introduced for this upcoming season. They wanted to give fashion lovers more pieces to  their wardrobe that could work with a lot they already owned. They want one piece to be able to mix and match with multiple pieces of clothing, but still have each outfit have a different look and style to it. "The team, who are based in London, describe the label as "bold, luxe street, French and not too serious with a side of mange tout"" Which I get the first half of this description of their clothing but not the very end of it HA! BUT ANYWAYS from the looks of it and reading this article this line seems very chic and wearable. These pieces I saw on the website are for their Autumn/Winter season for later this year. Are you ready to see what they have?

TBT "Blast from the Past"

Hey everyone, hope your week is going by fast! We are almost to the weekend, this sounds good to me!  It is Thursday again and I am posting another Throwback post. The past couple days I have been thinking about schools and my future and I have been thinking about how much I have changed and how much my life has changed since I have graduated high school. Thinking about how I was 18 when I graduated and now I am 21, thinking about how all of my best friends went their own separate ways to reach there goals of where they want to go in life, thinking about relationships, who was with who and who people are with now. It's crazy to think just 3 years ago I was a high school senior thinking about going to college and now I am a 21 year old with my associates degree, about to go for my bachelors. Its crazy how time flies and what you go through in such a short period of time but what really feels like an eternity. I can't say I don't have any regrets, or bad memories, or that I didn't go through things that have hurt me because I would be lying. What I can say is through these 3 years I learned a lot and I am finally starting to become my own person. I am taking life one step at a time, (as one of my tattoos say I have on my foot) and I am learning from every experience I go through and every situation that is thrown my way.

My whole point of this post today was to be different and just step away from fashion for a minute. Fashion is a big part of my life, but so are a lot of other things. My family, friends, my boyfriend, my dreams, goals, etc. I wanted this throwback Thursday to not be about fashion from the past, I wanted it to be a blast from the past of my favorite memories these past 3 years since I left high school. I think it's always fun to look at pictures to see how you and your friends have changed, to look at the picture and remember that exact moment and how you were feeling. Or even better, thinking what was I thinking when I put that outfit on and walked out the door that morning...? HA! I  also love when everyone comes back home for a break or even when people are still here because they are going to school close to home, and you in your opinion can decide if you think they have changed or not. But, like I said in the end I am becoming myself, I am becoming a better person, and I know this is cliché but "everything happens for a reason." Unfortunately, many of us won't ever find out the reasons to many things, but I guess that's the mystery and way of life we all may never grasp.

Here's to Throwback Thursday everyone! Go through all your old pictures and look at all the memories you have had and think about all you have been through. Think about where you are today from where  you were at that moment. I am sure you can think of one or more positive things about your life now and appreciate things more.

Spring Break;I Need a Vacation

Spring Break;I Need a Vacation
I figured the OOTD today would be inspired from SB. This year unfortunately I will not be going away, but in June will be my time for a vacation! I am counting down the days! I just bought this bathing suit and can't wait to buy some beach accessories & beachwear to match it!

Makeup Monday

Sorry guys, I meant to post this up yesterday, but some technical difficulties were going wrong with my blog!  So today I will try and post more than once since I missed out on yesterday! Here is what I meant to post yesterday...

I decided today on my blog was going to be Makeup Monday! Today I researched and was reading some of the magazines I purchased this past week (Glamour & Cosmopolitan), and saw some makeup trends that I wanted to share with you. I know most of you are going on Spring break soon either sometime during March or in April. I am jealous of those of you who are going away on vacation, sadly this year no vacation for this girl. :( Anyways, makeup trends for Spring 2013 aren’t too shocking, but I thought a lot of them you can actually use on a day to day basis and also you can pull off to do yourself. I am not an expert on makeup, I have to watch YouTube tutorials or look at the “step by steps’ in magazines. Surprisingly, the makeup techniques and styles for this Spring are simple. Many of the fashion shows I’ve seen and have been reading about are using blues and greens on the eyes. Also makeup artists have been doing vivid hues on the lips (classic reds, pinky-red, vibrant pinks and some coral pinks) *HINT* I found from one of my magazines “if you outline the outermost part of your lips in red pencil, this accentuates the shape of the mouth and makes lips look bigger and fuller.” Two more makeup trends to go along with the vivid lips are major lashes and smudged eyeliner. I am not one for a lot of eye makeup, but the smudged eyeliner and major lashes I think I can deal with. Here are some pictures of the looks I found and liked.

HA! I was so happy to finally have a lazy day!.. but now it's gonna be Monday & back to work again:( Who else had the day off today? What did u do with your "Sunday Funday"?
